So the headlines are full of political scandals these days. Benghazi-American Lives Lost, Cover Up begins; IRS targeted conservative groups; Justice Department accessed AP reporters personal accounts; Louisiana College professors fired over Calvinism issue/Whistle blower complaints exposed. I watch a show on ABC called "Scandal". Its about a public relations firm whose job is to help politicians caught up in scandals. Often times the firm covers up the scandal, but sometimes they use it to their client's advantage. "Watergate" during the Nixon administration wasn't the first presidential scandal. But it did perhaps do more damage to public trust in modern history than any other scandal. The biggest lesson learned from Watergate was it isn't the scandal that is unforgivable but the cover up. The public feels like they cannot trust the White House on the Benghazi issue. The public who already looked at the Internal Revenue Service with skepticism now sees them as even bigger bullies. All of this points to our weaknesses, moral failures, dishonesty. We are sinners. Full of short-comings. In desperate need to be forgiven, redeemed. Have you ever come clean? Have you ever asked God to forgive you? No more covering up, ask Him to cleanse you and He will. He knows all about your failures, the scandals, and He still loves you. That's amazing grace isn't it?
