Throughout the Bible we see the words, 'Comfort one another'. 1 Thessalonians 4:18 and 5:11; Hebrews 3:13 for example. As Christians we are called upon to share one another's burdens Galatians 6:2. We are better together. Recently in our church we have had church members pass away. I have watched as other members have visited, called, sent cards and loved those who are hurting. It has blessed my heart as pastor to see Christians living out their faith. This is what Jesus talked about in John 13:35, "Everyone will know you are my disciples, by your love for one another." When we leave the loving to the professionals, i.e. Pastors, Deacons, etc. then we are missing what Jesus taught and lived. I love what the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 1:3-7. "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort." We are comforted by God so then we can comfort others. Let's live it!
