"Between Sundays"
Crown of Thorns
Genesis 22:13 And Abraham lifted
up his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him was a ram, caught in a thicket by
his horns. And Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up as a burnt
offering instead of his son. 14So Abraham called the name of that place, “The
LORD will provide”;as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the LORD it shall
be provided.”
John 19:1 Then Pilate took Jesus and flogged him. 2And the
soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head and arrayed
him in a purple robe. 3They came up to him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
and struck him with their hands.
In these passages we see the sacrifice
that God provided had thorns around it's head. Crowns are very symbolic, they
show majesty and authority. When the Son of God came the first time a crown of
torture was pushed into his temples. When the Son of God comes the next time He
will wear a Crown of Gold.
"Then I looked, and there was a white cloud, and
One like the Son of Man was seated on the cloud, with a gold crown on His head
and a sharp sickle in His hand." Revelation 14:14
Between Sundays, Palm
Sunday and Resurrection Sunday, take time to reflect on the Crowns and how God
provided the sacrifice.
