The Light is Back On

Our church has a traditional tall steeple. I had noticed that it was not lit up at night. So one day at the office I climbed up in the attic and went up into the steeple. The light was connected to a timer. The timer had seen better days and was not working. I plugged the light in direct and it came on. I got a new timer for the light so that it will come on from dusk until dawn. Seeing the steeple lit up at night reminds me of the lighthouses that would guide the ships into the safe harbor. The ship would look for that beacon of light. We as a church are to be a beacon of hope. The light of the steeple also reminds us that Jesus said He was the light of the world. The white steeple against the darkness of the night sky reminds us that we are to be the salt and light in this dark world in which we live. We, as a church, are to be the Shining City set on a hill. May our light shine brightly in our community.
