James the half-brother of Jesus wrote the book in the New Testament that bears his name. He opens the letter not by asserting his title as the leader of the early church nor bragging that he was Jesus' half-brother, but rather a bond-servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. He considered himself first and foremost a slave for Christ. This book was written in 45 AD which makes it the oldest of the New Testament books. I have started a sermon series that will be a verse-by-verse study of the Book of James. Join us at First Baptist Oil City on Sundays for practical ways for living out our faith. Having faith is one thing...a living faith is another. Sunday School begins at 9:45am and Worship is at 11am.

So glad to find you're blog. I wanted to write and congratulate you on your acceptance as pastor at First Baptist. I can't wait to see what God is able to do through your family and church with you as pastor. What an amazing opportunity! It must be humbling to be the spiritual leader for a congregation. Just the intimidating feeling of knowing a whole group of people look to you for spiritual guidance must be hard, but I (and God) know you're up to the challenge.
May God bless all the work you do for Him through you're knew church home.
Derek
