Remember, Never Forget

I have had the opportunity to walk the sacred ground of Arlington National Cemetery. I've witnessed the changing of the guard and looked at the names on the headstones and thought about that person, their family, their service to our country. Whenever I hear "Taps" played I get a lump in my throat and shed tears even if I didn't know the individual. A story on KSLA revealed that 80% of Americans are not clear about the true meaning of Memorial Day. This is a tragedy. This day is a special, somber day to remember the sacrifice of so many. The military and their families. Many paid the ultimate price and laid down their very lives for our freedoms and freedom around the world. Young men and women, husbands, wives, mothers and fathers. Take time to remember them, to preserve their memory, to honor their sacrifice. Brave men like Craig Nelson and Ross McGinnis. Today is not just a day to grill or barbeque. It is not the start of summer. It is a day to honor those who gave it all. Remember, never forget.
