A few years back I went to a production of "Tangled in the Tinsel". It was a humorous and yet sad truth about the Christmas season. It has become a busy, stressful, marketing bonanza. We all too often get tangled in the tinsel of Christmas and forget about the meaning of Christmas. What is it we celebrate during Christmas? The long lines at the Mall, the credit card statments, the pushing and shoving to get the latest toy, the hours spent travelling in a packed car with voices crying "Are we there yet?"? No, that is not what we celebrate. That is not what Christmas is all about. It is about the celebration of a birth over 2,000 years ago. A birth that changed the entire world. A humble birth in a tiny manger. The birth of Jesus Christ, the Messiah. Our Lord and Savior. That is what Christmas is all about. I have to admit I am the worst at getting distracted and forgetting the reason for the season. This Christmas as we put up our "pre-lit" tree we had a problem. The "pre-lit" wasn't lit. Most of the lights were not working. I found myself getting stressed out. Then it hit me as I was looking at the tree, Christmas is about the manger not a tree. Instead of me blowing it again, I just relaxed and thought about the meaning of Christmas. Angela bought strands of lights and she put them on the tree. The lights are working. But the heart of the matter is Jesus, who said He was the Light of the World. Let's stay focused this Christmas. Don't get stressed or tangled in the tinsel. Celebrate the birth of the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings! Merry Christmas!

What a great post, Chad! The same thing happened to us this year. We pulled down our pre-lit tree and discovered that the middle section was no longer lit! We strung some lights on it anyway! I guess we will be hitting the after Christmas sales this year!!!
Miss you guys!
