Crossing the River

Well, it is official. My family and I are crossing the river and headed to First Baptist Oil City! For those of you who don't know the Red River seperates Caddo and Bossier parishes. We had such a wonderful weekend getting to know some of the people. I preached Sunday morning and the church voted to call me as their pastor Sunday night. We delightfully accepted. This is an exciting time in our journey with the Lord. We have lots to do to get ready for moving day. I am preaching at Eastwood Baptist on October 14th and will begin serving at First Baptist on October 21st.

The best way you can help my family is to pray for a smooth transition. Pray for me to have godly wisdom. I am completely dependent on the Holy Spirit to guide my ministry. Which brings up a good point. Sometimes education and experience can be used by us as a substitute for the Lord's guidance. Since First Baptist Oil City is my first church to pastor I can't rely on experience. All the seminary training I have had can't prepare me for every situation. So God has me right where He wants me to be...completely, entirely dependent on Him. Angela and I thank you for all your prayers and we look forward to what God is going to do at First Baptist Oil City.
