Implosion

I read a book recently that mentioned the U.S.S. Thresher. This was a nuclear submarine that was lost at sea in 1963. The sub and its entire crew of 129 died in a horrible implosion. It seems that it went to a depth of over 1,000 feet off the coast of Massachusetts. The Thresher was part of an elite class of new subs. It was the lead vessel of its class. It was thought to be invincible. When it deep dived the integrity of the vessel was compromised. Instead of welding they used sliver brazing to join the pipes together. They compromised on what seemed to be a small detail. This compromise caused leaking in the piping system. This caused negative pressure to build up and the U.S.S. Thresher imploded.

Have you ever compromised a small detail before, thinking it wouldn't make a difference? On the outside you seemed to have it all together. You looked invincible. But inside you there was a problem. An integrity issue. This small detail can cause an implosion in your life, in your marriage, in relationships. Don't compromise, not even on the small things. The small things do make all the difference.
