I forgot my cell phone today...
I realized on my way to seminary classes that I had left the house without my cell phone. At first a sense of panic and frustration came upon me. But then the thought occured...this is exhilarating, refreshing. In the words of William Wallace, "...FREEDOM!" Like a bird released from it's cage. Like a inmate out of his cell. I felt so free without that permanent attachment on my hip. I won't have to worry today about keeping it on vibrate or silence mode...I won't hear it ring. It won't play any annoying songs to interrupt my day. WOW! Have you ever thought how we are slaves to modern technology? Our cell phones are like a ball and chain. People can reach us any time, any where--no matter how inconvenient. Speaking of, have you ever had your cell phone go off in a restroom? Do you answer it? Is there ever a moment of peace? On my way to class, 7 out of 10 drivers were talking on their cell phone. Most of them were swerving and drifting in and out of their lane. Can we call for a nationwide day of NO CELL PHONES! I have decided I will intentionally forget my cell phone more often. I encourage you to do the same. Find freedom from the bondage of technology. Enjoy the peace and serenity. Find humor in those around you as their cell phone interrupts meetings, lunch, classes, etc. Let's remove the ball and chain for just one day, you won't miss it I promise.
